As part of Yamaha’s “Yard Built” initiative Per Nielson and Nicholas Bech, founders of Copenhagen based Wrenchmonkees, have turned a Yamaha XJR 1300 into a sleek no-nonsense cafe racer. Having honed their skills on especially older models, customizing a particularly newer bike represented a challenge, especially on the technical level. Yet the outcome is nothing less than impressive. The original wheels were replaced with 19 inch front and 18 inch rear for a vintage look. The flat handlebar has been replaced with handlebars that are grafted on top of a YZF-R1 fork. Further features include six-piston calipers takn from the Yamaha Super-Bike, slightly higher footrests, a “megaphone” style dual exhaust, old school yellow headlight and a lightened seat, topped off with slightly metallic, matte olive colour. Have a closer look at this beauty in the gallery.
